It was interesting to be able to view Pompeii and hear some comments by a guide .
The city of Positano was extremely crowded and it made the experience not so enjoyable, albeit the ice cream was very tasty.
During the trip there were plenty of opportunities to spend more money in shops and restaurants that the guide suggested.
Pompeii and Sorentto a great experience

We found the group very early morning and were greeted by our guide. There we noticed it’s not a small group tour and we will not go as booked to Positano, the reason for me to book this trip. I was quite upset! The tour itself was vey good. The guide was informative, helpful, entertaining and never too much of it. And although we drove serpentines i felt safe with our bus driver at all times. The guide for Pompeii again was informative and entertaining, we saw a lot and learned a lot. Sorentto the city at the Mediterranean we visited instead of Positano is a jewel - beautiful! We walked around by ourself and tasted some lemon products from the area, some arancini and of course gelato! We had a beautiful day without having to worry about anything. I only miss not seeing Positano - but I guess I just have to come back soon :). Thanks Semih and Antonio!
A very nice day trip!

Had a great time! Peter our guide was amazing and very funny. He definitely made the trip even more enjoyable and knew sooooo much about the history. He also gave us great advice on the dos and don’t while we’re here and recommended great areas for us to have real Roman food. Our driver was also very nice.
Worth it for the day

Our guide, Enrica, made it seem like we were going to Pompeii with an old friend! She was funny, charming, and informative. Andres, our driver, got us through traffic jams so well that we beat the other bus home who left earlier than we did. There are some pros and cons, however, like with anything, so I'll list them out.
Pros: Obviously, the places. Pompeii was amazing and our guide there was really knowledgeable. They split you into two smaller groups for that part.
Enrica. Cannot say enough good things about her. 10/10 as an ever-upbeat lady. She even went to each of us personally to answer questions about Rome on a personal level at the end of the day.
Cons: You'll spend most of the day on the bus. That's the worst I can say, but if you get motion sick, this is not for you. The winding roads will take their toll. Altogether, you'll spend about 3.5 hours doing things, no time to buy anything in Pompeii, and the rest of the long day commuting. If you're only in Rome, worth it for Pompeii. If you're going to travel back and stay in Naples, for example, then that's a better starting point.
Overall, I enjoyed my time and recommend the trip. I love history and this was a gem. Would I do this again? No. Am I glad I went the one day? Absolutely. Take the time and see this historical city frozen in time.

We didn’t see Positano , visited Sorrento instead, was a beautiful town but not much to see in short time. The places that we were stopped on the way for breakfast and lunch were not the greatest, the weak worse coffee, dry pizza, untestable desserts and expensive for that low quality. Long ride , no music in the bus, long quiet time which made the ride boring. Visiting Pompeii was the best part and made it all worth it .
Great Variety Tour

If you want a taste of the Amalfi coast and an informative tour of Pompeii, then this is the right tour for you. Note: this tour covers a lot of ground! In order to fit everything in one day, be prepared for the stops at each destination to feel rather brief. It's about 1.5 hours in Positano (with a beautiful round trip coastal drive) and a 1.5 hour guided Pompeii tour. This was a wonderful way to see parts of Italy that my party would not have had the opportunity to visit otherwise.
Amazing trip!

The experience was grandiose. The bus had problem with the AC and it was really hot but we enjoyed the trip very much . I fully recommend it . You can find a place to eat in Pompeii or in Positano. The restaurant recommended by the guide was not good . The Amalfi Coast was beautiful and enjoyable.
Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Positano from Roam - Wonderful

The highlight of this tour was visiting Pompeii where we had a local guide provide an excellent and in depth tour of the history and pointed out details we would have never noticed without an expert guide. The views during the drive to Positano were amazing and thanks to Antonio's masterful driving, we made it in one piece. Positano was touristy and overcrowded but worth seeing if you've never been. The drive each way is about 3 hours but our guide, Sonia, kept us informed along the way. The bus is comfortable (unless you have long legs) and there is a convenient rest stop in each direction. We wouldn't consider this a "small" group. We had 33 on our bus plus another full bus. While we split in half in Pompeii, it was a lot of people to manage. The lunch stop was convenient and they did a great job accomodating for allergies (like gluten). Everyone seemed to enjoy the pizza and special "cake" during lunch. Sonia did a great job herding the group. This tour covers a lot in a day but it's well worth the trip.
Not worth it and no small group

Do not get fooled by seeing offers to see so many places and also the “small group” our tour was 35 people full bus, left at 7:30am and got back at 8:30pm, one 15 min stop to get “breakfast” at this place that was pricey with a ready coffee that was already cold. Then 15 min (add on wasn’t even on the schedule) stop at a Limoncello factory/store, 1.5 hour in Positano that wasn’t even enough to check out couple and eat something.
1.5 hour Pompeii tour (which thanks to the tour guide Carla that was the only part I really enjoyed)
And at the end grab and go pizza that was super cole and sticking to the bottom of the box and paid 8 Euro.
The rest sitting in the boss
So technically 4 hours productive the rest drive and super exhausting.
Don’t book this tour
Just book a separate Pompeii tour if you’re interested in seeing Pompeii.
Definitely not worth $169 + all those expensive places for coffee and pizza (you have no other option cause you don’t have time) which cost me another 40 Euro
A full day of discovery

Long journey, and worth every minute

Semih, our tour guide was very informative and entertaining, which made a long coach ride more interesting. Postiano was definitely worth the long journey, a beautiful place and the pizza there was the best we’ve had in Italy. Pompeii was fascinating and our tour guide Michael was so knowledgeable, could have stayed longer to hear more!
Be prepared for all weathers, although it was raining in Pompeii, our tour guide switched the order and so we never saw any rain, only sunshine!
We had the absolute best...

Weather makes all the difference

, Aug 2022
When left Rome it was raining a lot and was gloomy & dull. The guide made an executive decision to go to Positano first as it was raining heavy in Pompeii. Positano had great weather so we're glad we got to see the Amalfi Coast in the sun. When we reached Pompeii the rain had cleared and it was sunny again. We had a great 1 and half hour tour of Pompeii in good weather. Great excursion
Amazing Tour😊

This was a very nice tour of the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Make sure to bring an umbrella as the scourging heat was unforgiving in Pompeii. Great history of the eruption of Mt Vesuvius 1000 yrs ago. The drive to Positano was pleasant. Clair was our tour guide and did a fantastic job entertaining the group on the bus. Francesco was a very good driver maneuvering the bus through the mountain side roads. We had a great time.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
