Vidyadhar Garden
The Basics
Opened in 1988, Vidyadhar Garden commemorates Jaipur’s chief architect, Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, and draws on the city’s centuries of design and landscaping as inspiration. Travelers often visit these gardens on day tours of Jaipur, which also include highlights such as the City Palace, Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal.
Things to Know Before You Go
There is a small entrance fee to enter Vidyadhar Garden.
Keep food out of sight and reach of the monkeys, as they can get aggressive when competing for food.
Because the garden attracts fewer tourists than some other Jaipur attractions, it can be a pleasant place for a quiet stroll.
How to Get There
The Vidyadhar Garden is situated on the main Jaipur–Agra highway, near another beautiful garden, the Sisodiya Rani Ka Bagh. It’s about 5 miles (8 kilometers) from the Jaipur Railway Station. The easiest way to get there is via taxi or auto rickshaw, which can be found throughout Jaipur. If traveling independently rather than on a guided tour, it makes sense to hire a taxi or driver for a whole day.

When to Get There
The gardens are open every day, from early morning until early evening. For much of the year, Jaipur is very hot, so avoid visiting in the middle of the day, when the sun is strongest and temperatures can be fierce. Early morning and late afternoon visits are more comfortable.
Visit Jantar Mantar
Jaipur city is full of beautiful gardens, palaces, and architectural features. One of the most interesting is the 18th-century Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory. The huge marble and stone astronomical instruments comprise a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the observatory is a fun place to explore and snap unusual photos.
