Walk through Gandhi Ashram

Walk through Gandhi Ashram

star-5
1
While Gandhiji wanted to experiment values of simple living, he shifted his home from Kochrab to this humble place on the banks of river Sabarmati, which was right in the middle of Sabarmati Jail and Crematorium, the two places where most of the satyagrahis ended up. Sabarmati Ashram served as the power center to strategize the freedom struggle and remained home to Bapu till 1930, when Bapu began Salt Satyagrah and pledged never to return to this place until India achieved total independence and he never did. This place draws thousands of visitors every year, not only to peek into his life and his values, but also to introspect. Lets take a walk and listen to the intriguing tales from the life of Mahatma.

Walk through Adalaj Vav

Walk through Adalaj Vav

star-5
4
Thanks to arid regions in western India, we see lot of stunning stepwells in the state of Gujarat and Rajasthan, which were built with the intention to store rainwater for a longer period of time. Of all these stepwells, the one at Adalaj is of unique importance. The stepwellÔÇÖs intrinsic carving is not the only thing spectacular about it, however the tale behind its creation is equally spectacular! Built in 1499, the vav incorporates design elements from Hindu as well as Islamic architecture and is the only Vav with three different entrances that leads to main well. The beauty is still intact and the intrinsic details of the carvings have endured the time so beautifully that it still gives the feeling of amazement.
